Empress Menen Asfaw
Empress Menen was a modern women. She was raised by progressive parents,
who believed that a woman should be allowed an education at the turn of
the century 1899 to 1900 when she was a young child. And she in turn
believed that empowering the youth so that they might be productive
citizens, through the Emptress Menen School, or the Handicraft School,
the vocational school in Dessie which were all schools she started, and
through the church which educated many.
For the love of the Mother, Empress Menen is a woman who stands out in history as a mother to many. Her children, all the women who attended the Empress Menen school and handicraft school, those who attended the schools or were in Childcare Centers that she started or supported, all those who benefited from her donations to schools, hospitals and churches around the country of Ethiopia, and to many who she kissed and caressed during her time at Empress Menen Asfaw. Hail the Empress!
